Artworks - Jonathan Pocock

Jonathan PocockJonathan Pocock was born in Malaya in 1967. He studied at the Central School of Art & Design, and at St Martin’s School of Art, where he was awarded a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting. He describes his work as broadly traditional, in that all his paintings are observed from life and executed in oils. Jonathan is a recognised master of his technique, taking everyday landscapes or objects and injecting them with life and vitality. His use of the pallet knife allows detail to move aside for a more direct approach, whilst his still life’s maintain a delicious quality; restful, yet dazzling with reflection. Jonathan will always work from nature where possible, taking his easel out into the landscape. Having experienced living in Singapore and USA, he enjoys travelling and discovering new landscapes; more recently he has taken his inspiration from trips to France and India. Jonathan was influenced initially by Caravaggio, baroque period, and more recently, William Nicholson, the modernist. His work has been exhibited extensively, and at some of London’s most prestigious galleries, including Francis Kyle, Ebury Galleries, Albemarle Gallery and W H Patterson. He has also had one-man shows with Roy Miles and The Bruton Street Gallery, and has exhibited at the Wally Findlay Galleries in New York. Jonathan was also a Windsor & Newton Young Artist Finalist at the Mall Galleries.
